Trump Labor Board Tips Hand on Student Organizing Rights (1)

The NLRB’s Trump administration appointees made clear their desire to reconsider board law on college student unionizing rights, even as they ordered the University of Chicago to bargain with a union representing student library workers.

The National Labor Relations Board Dec. 4 rejected the university’s request to challenge findings from prior proceedings that led to student workers electing an International Brotherhood of Teamsters affiliate as their bargaining representative. The board found no special circumstances to permit the school to relitigate issues that were or could have been handled in that earlier case.
