Towson University was hit with a suit by the school’s former women’s gymnastics coach, who alleges she was fired because of her gender, pregnancy, and in retaliation for reporting discrimination.
Plaintiff Victoria May alleges that complaints made against her by student athletes, including racial discrimination, were based on gender stereotypes and that “a thorough and unbiased investigation” would have proven them to be untrue, according to the suit filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
The complaint alleges that May’s gender and pregnancy played a role in the complaints and discipline she received.
