The Best Job-Switchers’ Market in 20 Years Pays Workers to Move

When workers switch jobs they are netting themselves the best pay rises in almost 20 years, according to the latest wage-tracker data from the Atlanta Federal Reserve.

The finding combines with continued record high vacancies in the U.S., and will add to the belief that the pandemic switched the balance of power in the labor market from employers to employees.

The Atlanta Fed provides granular data on wage settlements, which are widely followed in the market. Overall, the tracker shows that wages increased by 4.2% in the year to September, the strongest increase since 2007.
