Tennessee Won’t Ditch Virus Job Safety Rule, Despite House Vote

Tennessee’s workplace safety agency won’t rescind its federally required emergency Covid-19 regulation governing health-care employers, despite pressure from Republican state lawmakers who recommended the agency withdraw the rule.

State law doesn’t allow the Department of Labor and Workforce Development and its Occupational Safety and Health Division to withdraw rules after they have become effective, the department said in an Oct. 19 letter to the legislature’s Government Operations Committee.
