More than 30,000 employees are working without a contract at Stop & Shop grocery stores after five local unions and the company failed to reach an agreement by a Feb. 23 deadline.
Local union presidents categorized the company’s contract proposals as takeaways and a step backward from the last agreement ratified in 2016.
“Stop & Shop is making proposals that do not honor the value its employees have created for the company,” the five United Food and Commercial Worker locals said in a Feb. 23 update.
