Former Major League Soccer player Alejandro “Kaku” Gamarra breached his agreement with MLS by signing with and playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun FC, a federal trial court ruled.
The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Tuesday upheld an arbitrator’s finding that MLS and the New York Red Bulls soccer team validly exercised an option to extend Kaku’s contract through 2021 but that he disregarded the terms of his contract by signing with Al-Taawoun.
