Soccer League Appeals Teen Phenom’s Win Over Minimum Age Rule

The National Women’s Soccer League has asked a federal appeals court in San Francisco to revoke an injunction directing the league to stop enforcing its minimum playing age against a 15-year-old athletic prodigy who challenged the policy on antitrust grounds.

The league sought review from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit late Monday, four days after a federal judge in Oregon issued a preliminary injunction in favor of Olivia Moultrie, who began competing at the collegiate level when she was 11 and started preparing to go pro at 13.
