Senate Nears Labor Secretary Scalia Confirmation Vote

The Senate is set to vote to confirm labor secretary pick Eugene Scalia Sept. 26, as the Trump administration continues to move ahead with a series of regulations to update federal workplace laws.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) Sept. 25 filed cloture on the the nomination, setting Scalia up for a confirmation vote. McConnell told reporters he expects lawmakers to vote to confirm Scalia, the son of former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, before Congress embarks on a two-week recess.
