The U.S. Senate confirmed Seema Nanda, a former Democratic National Committee chief executive officer, to serve as U.S. Labor Department solicitor, the agency’s top legal officer.
Nanda, who served at the DOL during the Obama administration—including as deputy solicitor—was confirmed Wednesday by a vote of 53-46.
As solicitor of labor, Nanda will be the principal legal adviser on DOL regulations, policies, and litigation to enforce labor and employment laws. She’ll also be responsible for providing counsel to Labor Secretary
