Scalia Takes Over at Labor Department

Eugene Scalia is set to take the reins at the Labor Department, after the Senate voted yesterday to confirm the veteran management attorney. He inherits an ambitious regulatory agenda and some likely court battles.

Gene’s Team: Scalia, who has yet to announce who will serve as his chief of staff, is likely to bring on additional staffers in political appointee positions. Acting Labor Secretary Patrick Pizzella will return to his prior role as deputy secretary and Labor Solicitor Kate O’Scannlain is expected to remain on in the DOL’s No. 3 spot.
