Rep. Cuellar’s Deputy Chief to Get Trial in Pregnancy Bias Suit

The Office of Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) must face trial on claims by its former deputy chief of staff that she was fired because she was pregnant and asked Cuellar for maternity leave, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruled.

Cuellar “has compelling arguments” for his decision to terminate Kristie Small after roughly 120 days, which allegedly was based on her poor performance, the court said Thursday.
