The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission didn’t prove that a Rent-A-Center store in Illinois fired a worker because she transitioned to female from male, a jury decided May 18.
The EEOC alleged that a Rent-A-Center district manager instructed the store manager to fire Megan Kerr after he learned that Kerr was transitioning. The company argued that Kerr was let go because she used a delivery vehicle to make a personal furniture delivery.
