Alabama Democrat Rep. Terri Sewell is preparing to counter a push to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour with legislation that would vary pay rates by region.
The measure, which Sewell plans to introduce as soon as March 28, is being floated as a response to the $15 minimum wage bill touted by Democrat leadership. It comes as some moderate Democrats have yet to be convinced to get behind a key piece of the party’s economic legislative platform.
