Racist Voicemail Comments Support Worker’s Discrimination Claims

A Pennsylvania staffing company must face trial in a race discrimination lawsuit after a federal judge ruled that a company recruiter’s use of the N-word and other racist terms on a voicemail could prove bias.

Bashir Shamsuddi was working for a client of Classic Staffing Services in 2016 and says he told the client he would miss work because he was moving. Classic’s rule that employees were also required to report absences to Classic was never enforced, he said, so he believed he had done all he needed by calling the client.
