OSHA Injury Electronic Reporting Backed By Science Advisers

OSHA’s electronic collection of employers’ injury and illness information should continue because it establishes an invaluable database, a just-released report from a National Academy of Sciences committee concludes.

Several industry organizations are challenging the rule in federal court, and the Trump administration Occupational Safety and Health Administration is reviewing the Obama-era rule’s numerous requirements.

The conclusion—one of many in the 212-page report—could carry significant weight in the ongoing debate over whether to continue the electronic recordkeeping rule mandate (RIN:1218-AC49).
