New York state is advancing regulations that would limit when employers can schedule and cancel workers’ shifts, a state Labor Department spokesperson confirmed to Bloomberg Law.
The proposal would move the state beyond New York City on the issue. The Big Apple already has strict regulations in place on when certain retail and food service establishments can schedule employees, while the state regulations would govern a broader set of employers.
