New York Extends Training Deadline for Sexual Harassment Law

Employers in New York will have until next October to complete employee training on sexual harassment policies under a new state law.

That’s an extension from a Jan. 1, 2019, deadline proposed in August, when the state issued draft model policies and other materials for employer implementation of a sexual harassment law adopted in April.

The final package, released Oct. 1 by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D), still requires all New York employers to adopt a sexual harassment prevention policy and provide it to employees by Oct. 9. They then have a year to complete the required employee training.
