New York Contractor Arrested on Wage Charges

A contractor who allegedly underpaid workers on New York City school construction projects by almost $700,000 over a three-year period faces state criminal charges (People of the State of New York v. Mangru, N.Y. Crim. Ct., 2017 BX 016582, arraigned 5/2/17).

The arrest of Vickram Mangru is part of an ongoing probe into “widespread allegations” that contractors aren’t paying the required prevailing wages on New York City public works projects, state and city officials said in a May 3 statement.
