New York City Car Wash to Pay $530,000 to Settle Wage Action

A New York City car wash must pay $530,000 and institute new labor policies under a settlement of a state case alleging that it underpaid more than 150 workers.

The settlement with the owners of Tropical Breeze Car Wash in Brooklyn, announced Nov. 8 by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), is the latest development in a series of state enforcement actions in the car wash industry that have yielded $2.5 million for more than 1,000 workers at 26 locations.
