New Mexico Virus Relief to Give One-Time $1,200 Jobless Benefit (1)

New Mexico’s jobless will receive a one-time $1,200 benefit as part of a roughly $330 million pandemic relief package signed into law Wednesday by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D).

House Bill 1, which the state Legislature passed late Tuesday, will use money from the federal CARES Act and the state general fund to help the unemployed and fund other pandemic needs, including food banks, emergency housing, and other programs. Lawmakers approved about $194 million for the supplemental income assistance for up to 160,000 people eligible for unemployment.
