Louisiana Lawmakers Vote to Slightly Raise Jobless Benefits (1)

Louisiana would offer an additional $28 a week in unemployment benefits under legislation heading to the governor’s desk Thursday.

Lawmakers in both legislative chambers gave final passage to the bill (H.B. 183) after an amendment specified the increase could take effect only if Louisiana ends participation in the $300-per-week federal pandemic unemployment benefits program by July 31.
