The House as early as next week is likely to vote on legislation that would provide LGBT individuals with protection against discrimination at work and in public facilities.
The Rules Committee as early as May 13 will schedule a procedural vote on the Equality Act (H.R. 5, S. 788), which would then allow for full House floor consideration. The bill would ban sexual orientation and gender identity bias on the job and by public accommodation providers such as hotels, restaurants, and health-care facilities.
