Labor Secretary Nominee Marty Walsh Advanced by Senate Committee

The Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee voted 18-4 to advance President Joe Biden‘s nomination of Marty Walsh to be U.S. secretary of labor.

  • The panel’s vote sets up Walsh — the two-term Democratic mayor of Boston — for a final up-or-down confirmation vote by the full Senate, although timing remains unclear
