Labor Board to Review Nissan Union Case on Bargaining Unit Scope

Dec. 21, 2021, 10:37 PM

The federal labor board will review a case involving a proposed union of several dozen workers at a Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. plant in Tennessee, potentially setting up a wider ruling on bargaining unit size.

The International Association of Machinists had sought to organize 87 tool-and-die workers at the Nashville-area automotive plant, but a National Labor Relations Board acting regional director ruled in June that the union would have to organize a wall-to-wall union of 4,300 workers.

The union appealed the decision to the full board, which agreed to review the case in a party-line decision Tuesday.
