Ky. House Staffer Fired After Reporting Harassment Allegations

A whistleblower case involving the former Kentucky House speaker is accelerating following a high-profile firing in the Republican Party.

Daisy Olivo was fired Nov. 30 from her position at the state’s Legislative Research Commission as communications director for the Kentucky House Majority. That came after she filed a whistleblower lawsuit against the commission arguing she was demoted for passing along the report of an alleged assault victim, a 19-year-old House staffer. The alleged attackers are three Kentucky state representatives, including former Speaker Jeff Hoover, who recently won re-election.
