Judge Declines to Halt New DOL Wage Rule for Migrant Workers (1)

A federal judge refused Jan. 9 to stop the U.S. Labor Department from rolling out a new wage floor for certain migrant farm workers.

The ruling comes just two days after Peri & Sons Farms Inc. and the National Council of Agricultural Employers filed a lawsuit against the DOL in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

They claim the DOL didn’t do any analysis on whether the proposed wage floors for workers, potentially as high as $15 per hour, has any depressive effects on similarly-employed domestic farm workers. The wage floor would apply to foreign workers on...
