Job Applicant Pot Use Protections Passed by Nevada Legislature

Employers in Nevada won’t be able to reject a job candidate for testing positive for marijuana if a measure that passed the state Legislature May 28 is signed into law.

The bill heading to Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) for consideration wouldn’t apply for some workers, such as firefighters and emergency medical technicians, and when the employer determines there would be safety impacts. A Sisolak spokeswoman didn’t immediately indicate whether the governor would sign the legislation.
