JBS’s $5.5 Million Settlement of EEOC Muslim Prayer Case Gets OK

JBS USA LLC’s $5.5 million agreement with the EEOC got greenlighted by a federal court in a deal that will resolve the agency’s decade-old allegations that the company denied prayer breaks and engaged in other bias against Somali Muslim employees at a Greeley, Colo., meatpacking facility.

The company, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and a group of workers who intervened in the 2010 case sought the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado’s approval of the consent decree in May.
