U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is suspending in-person services at field offices across the country in an attempt to help slow the spread of the new coronavirus.
Field offices, asylum offices, and application support centers are scheduled to resume offering in-person services on April 1, at the earliest, the agency said late Tuesday.
There are 88 domestic field offices and 133 application support centers in the U.S. On an average day, the agency says it conducts over 1,400 informational appointments, 7,000 interviews, and fingerprints and photographs 14,000 people.
