Immigration Agency Chief Vows Big Boost in Job-Site Enforcement

Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the coming fiscal year will spend “four to five times” the amount of time currently spent on work-site enforcement, ICE Director Thomas Homan said.

“Unless you remove the magnets,” like the ability to obtain a job in the U.S., unauthorized immigrants will continue to enter the country, Homan said at an Oct. 17 Heritage Foundation event. “So we are stepping up work-site enforcement.”

“We’ve already increased the number of inspections and work-site operations,” and “you’re going to see that significantly increased next fiscal year,” Homan said.
