IKEA Accused of Discriminating Against Older Workers (1)

IKEA Holdings US Inc. is accused in a new class lawsuit of fostering a workplace culture of age discrimination that systematically leads to the recruitment and promotion of “young talent” over workers 40 and older.

Brandon Paine filed the suit Feb. 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on behalf of himself and other similarly situated workers. Paine is an employee at a IKEA store in New Haven Conn. He says the ready-to-assemble furniture giant’s pattern of violating the Age Discrimination in Employment Act has led to him being illegally passed over for advancement.
