IBM Must Disclose Documents at ‘Group’ Level in Age Bias Case

A worker in his 60s who says he was laid off as part of IBM‘s nationwide plan to “refresh” its talent with younger workers can look beyond his specific business unit to prove his claim, a federal judge ruled.

Jonathan Langley is entitled to discovery regarding International Business Machines Corp.'s nationwide “hybrid cloud group,” rather than just his four- or five-person “pure application sales team” in seeking evidence to support his allegations, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas said Jan. 30.
