IBM Gets Six Older Workers Booted From Age Bias Collective Suit

Six former IBM workers failed to show their age discrimination claims arise from the company’s actions within Texas and can’t participate in a collective action lawsuit with 10 other former employees from that state, a federal judge in Austin ruled.

The workers didn’t establish that the court had specific jurisdiction over their claims against International Business Machines Corp. under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and various state anti-bias laws, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas said.
