House Gears Up for New ‘Dream Act’ Immigration Fight

House Democrats are making another go of the Dream Act, but its ability to pass Congress likely will turn on whether and what immigration enforcement provisions are passed alongside.

“I have yet to encounter even one idea from the other side” that would provide a “long-term solution” to undocumented immigration, Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) said March 6 during a House Judiciary Committee hearing. Instead, Democrats say “just pass the Dream Act,” said Collins, the committee’s ranking member. “That’s not a plan, it’s a talking point.”
