Hope Solo Earned More Than Men’s Team Goalies, U.S. Soccer Says

Former star goalie Hope Solo earned more money than her counterparts on the U.S. Men’s National Team, the U.S. Soccer Federation Inc. says.

“In 2015, for example, Solo made in excess of $300,000, more than any individual MNT player,” U.S. Soccer said in its answer to Solo’s complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

Solo is pursuing her claims of unequal pay on her own, based on her 16-year career with the USWNT. But U.S. Soccer is also fielding a larger pay equity suit brought by 28 current members of the team, which...
