More than 400 in-home caregivers will share a $1.1 million settlement in an overtime dispute with a home health-care staffing agency, after a federal judge reduced the lead plaintiffs’ service awards.
Promise Home Care Agency Inc., which is based in the Bronx, N.Y., will pay the class and collective members nearly $731,500. The average recovery is about $1,800 and the highest is more than $13,200. Class counsel will receive $319,000 in attorneys’ fees and about $1,855 in costs, under an order signed Tuesday by Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein.
