H-1B Wage Rule Will Aggravate Physician Shortages, Doctors Say

A new Labor Department rule that raises wages for H-1B specialty occupation visa holders will price doctors out of serving vulnerable patient populations, among other problems, the American Medical Association said.

In a letter to DOL Secretary Eugene Scalia and acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf, the AMA said that changes implemented last month in the H-1B visa program “will cause immediate and lasting harm in the ability to provide timely, accessible health care services in rural and medically underserved communities across the United States.”
