GOP ‘Firebrand,’ or Democrat, Could Be Next Oversight Chair

The next chairman of the House panel with primary jurisdiction over federal employee matters could be a member of the Freedom Caucus, which at times has bucked Republican leaders on fiscal issues.

“Looking at members who are active, the person that kind of pops out immediately is Jim Jordan,” Mike Hettinger, a staffer on the committee when it was led by Rep. Tom Davis (R-Va.), told Bloomberg Law Feb. 2.

Jordan, a Republican from Ohio and a Freedom Caucus member, “hasn’t been shy” about his interest in the top job on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Hettinger said....
