Gap, Amazon Settle Worker Suits Over Criminal History Checks (1)

Gap Inc. and a former sorter who says she was fired from her job at a Newburgh, N.Y., distribution center because her criminal history check allegedly made her ineligible for employment settled her lawsuit, federal court records show.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on April 8 dismissed Genevieve Suarez’s Jan. 3 suit against the retailer. “The Court has been informed that the Parties have reached a settlement in principle,” it said, giving Gap and Suarez 45 days to apply to restore the case to its calendar if the settlement falls through.
