Feds Didn’t Try to Settle Bias Claims Before Suing, TIAA Says

The Teachers Insurance & Annuity Association of America says the Labor Department didn’t reasonably try to settle its claims that the company underpaid women and black workers at a North Carolina location, according to a motion obtained by Bloomberg Law.

TIAA argues that the agency “refused to explain its allegations,” among other claims, and seeks to have the agency’s case thrown out, or at least sent back for further conciliation to resolve the dispute.
