Federal HR Agency Seeks to Jettison Some Duties (1)

The Office of Personnel Management is looking to shed some of its current functions so it can focus on policy, the agency’s chief told a Senate panel July 26.

The first phase of the OPM proposal, which is part of a larger federal government reorganization plan, is to move some of the human resources agency’s duties to the General Services Administration, OPM Director Jeff Pon and GSA Administrator Emily Murphy said at the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs subcommittee hearing.

That could happen during the upcoming fiscal year, Pon said. Fiscal year 2019 begins Oct. 1.
