Federal contractors assisting with Hurricane Florence relief efforts don’t have to file paperwork demonstrating that they are meeting their affirmative action obligations, under a waiver issued by the Labor Department.
The waiver doesn’t exempt contractors from anti-discrimination laws. It just suspends filing requirements until Dec. 17, the DOL’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs said in a Sept. 17 memo.
The “limited exemption and waiver” is “in the national interest,” it said.
The agency didn’t extend the deadline for ongoing audits. The memo said the agency will be in contact with audited locations in affected areas.
