Fed & ATF Nominees, Defense Bill, Chips Talks Top Congress’ July

Congress returns next week to a packed July agenda and the crunch starts Monday, when the Senate is likely to move on high-priority nominees including to the Federal Reserve and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) filed for cloture, seeking to limit debate, on President Joe Biden’s nominations of Michael Barr to be the Fed’s vice chair for supervision and Steven Dettelbach to head the ATF before the July 4 recess, along with Ashish Vazirani to be the Defense Department deputy undersecretary for personnel and readiness.
