Farm Workers Ask to Join Suit Over Higher H-2A Visa Wage Floors

A group of domestic farm workers have asked to intervene as defendants in a federal lawsuit challenging the Labor Department’s new higher wage minimums for H-2A visa holders.

Michael Cortez and other workers claim they’re intended beneficiaries of the embattled 2019 adverse effect wage rate that went into effect Jan. 9.

The wage rate guidelines are generally designed to keep wages for U.S. workers from being economically harmed by what employers are paying alien workers.
