Facebook Ads Weed Out Older Applicants, Job Seekers Say

Facebook runs employment ads from Amazon, T-Mobile, Cox Communications, and Cox Media Group that target younger users in a way that violates age discrimination law, a new lawsuit alleges.

The social media site displays ads alongside a link that says “Why am I seeing this ad?” Part of the answer to this question for companies named as defendants in the lawsuit was that they restricted their ads to people between roughly 20 and 50 years of age, according to the complaint filed Dec. 20 in a federal court in San Francisco.
