Exotic Dancers Win $6.6 Million Settlement

Déjà Vu Services Inc. will pay $6.55 million to settle claims by some 28,180 exotic dancers that they were erroneously classified as independent contractors rather than employees (Doe v. Deja Vu Servs., Inc., E.D. Mich., No. 2:16-cv-10877, final settlement approval 6/19/17).

The settlement agreement was approved June 19 by a federal judge in Michigan. The resolution is unusual among misclassification case settlements because it establishes a process for class members to obtain a determination of their worker status.
