EEOC Caps Fiscal Year With $535 Million Returned to Bias Victims

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission recovered a record $535.4 million for victims of workplace discrimination in fiscal year 2020, according to an annual performance report.

The FY 2020 Annual Performance Report, released Tuesday, measures the agency’s strategic planning performance. Last fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, EEOC secured $333.2 million from private-sector and state and local governments through mediation, conciliation, and other administrative settlements, plus $106 million in court settlements and litigation—a 16-year high, the agency said. The remaining $96 million came from federal government employee complaints and applicants.
