Various drayage drivers who work at the Port of Savannah told Georgia lawmakers at a hearing July 21 that trucking firms continue to misclassify them as independent contractors instead of employees, observers told Bloomberg BNA July 21-23.
The drivers’ concerns echo those of their counterparts in California who haul goods at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and have made similar allegations against various trucking companies operating there.
