DOL Lawyer Court Travel Allowed as ‘Essential’ Amid Covid-19 (1)

The Labor Department told its attorneys across the country that travel for litigation will continue to be permitted as “essential,” causing concern among agency employees as the public health crisis caused by the new coronavirus intensifies.

“Numerous questions have come up about travel in light of recent events,” Deputy Solicitor Stanley Keen wrote to employees of the Solicitor of Labor’s office in an email Tuesday that was obtained by Bloomberg Law. “For SOL, essential travel includes all litigation-related travel. Travel for conferences and training may be justified as essential depending on the circumstances.”
