The Labor Department plans to investigate how the Occupational Safety and Health Administration uses its national and local emphasis program data, according to DOL’s Office of the Inspector General’s fiscal year 2013 Audit Workplan.
The subgoal falls under a larger goal—one of four listed in the workplan—of optimizing the performance and accountability of worker safety programs.
The other three goals in the workplan, which was released Jan. 2., are optimizing the use, performance, and accountability of employment and training programs; safeguarding and improving worker and retiree benefit programs; and helping the department maintain an effective management process.
